On Monday 2nd January 2017, 16 Larne AC athletes joined nearly four hundred athletes descended on Glenariff Forest Park just outside Waterfoot for the 21st annual running of the Race over the Glens.

The course, which measured approximately 6 miles in distance, athletes start on a fast road section before ascending to the course’s highest point where they were greeted by a lone piper; from here, the field negotiated a long descent, at the bottom of which, they would then face a gruelling climb back up towards the piper. The final stretch competitors descend towards the finish which was located just off the entrance road into the Forest Park, close to the Exhibition Centre.
