Glenariff Mountain Race

Three Larne runners took part in the Glenariff Mountain Race on Saturday afternoon, competing over a six-mile course with 370 metres of climbing all packed into the third mile and a long 2-mile run home alongside the Glenariff River. The race was the first in this year’s NIMRA Championship and attracted a record 113 participants.

Ryan Stewart, now running for Shettleson Harriers in Glasgow and fresh from his endeavours in South Atrica in the BBC’s Special Forces: Ultimate Hell Week, finished 5th in a time of 45:57. Andy Gregg finished in 33rd place with a time of 54:26, while Brendan O’Boyle, a long-time Larne mountain runner finished 35th in 54:50.
