Causeway Coast Events 2017

On Saturday September 23rd 19 Larne AC athletes made the journey to Portballintrae and joined approximately 1000 other entrants for the Causeway Coast, Ultra, Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k Events. Despite high winds the weather conditions in general were excellent and thankfully the tide was out at Whitepark Bay
In the 60km Ultra which took competitors from Portstewart to Ballintoy and back to Portballintrae, Thomas Craig finished in 31st place with a time of 7:29:28. In the Marathon, from Portballintrae to Ballintoy and back, Jackie Wallace, competing in his second ever marathon, finished strongly in 143rd place with a time of 5:33:34. In the Half Marathon, Malcolm Robinson was first home, in 9th place with a time of 1:45:43. Next home in 164th place with a time of 2:25:09 was Steven Gilliland. Emmett Woods, Kirsten Montgomery and Heather Baxter all used the race as part of their Marathon training and ran together, finishing with a time of 2:28:59.
In the 10k, Sean McAllister finished on the podium again, in 3rd place overall with a time of 46:31. Roberta Barham finished as second female in 13th place with a time of 58:15. Rhonda Montgomery was just behind her in 17th with a time of 1:00:05.Mandy Johnston finished in 20th with a time of 1:00:20. Next home was Jayne Liddle in 27th place and a time of 1:01:22. Elaine Hall finished in 61st place with a time of 1:06:41.Roger Barham was just behind her in 64th place and a time of 1:07:17.Melissa Shields finished in 83rd place, with a time of 1:11:09. Michele Woods and Ruth Moore finished together, with a time of 1:14:03. Thomas and Senga Craig both finished with a time of approximately 1:25
