Cavehill 5 Mile Race

On Sunday, 24 September, four members of Larne AC competed in the Cavehill 5 Mile Race organised by Leg-it Events.
The race took place over trails and forest tracks in and around Cavehill Forest Park, and incorporated 1,100 feet approx of climbing. The course climbed for two miles from the Antrim Road to Napoleon’s Nose, before returning on a mostly fast, but sometimes undulating route back to the starting point.
First home was John Neill in 7th place overall, and first in the M40 category. John covered the tough route in 39:26. Not far behind John was Andy Gregg in 9th place (40:29) to win the M50 category.
Dom Dorris was next to finish in 25th place in a respectable 48:21. Bryan Magee unfortunately picked up an injury after 2 miles, but remarkably still managed to finish in 75th place in 1:07:15.
A tough but enjoyable morning on the trails was had by all, and a spread of cakes afterwards made up for all the hard work.
