Northern Ireland & Ulster Road Relay Championships

On Saturday 7th October 2017, Larne athletic club members joined thousands of athletes and spectators in Victoria Park, Belfast, for the Northern Ireland & Ulster Road Relay Championships, organised by Orangegrove AC. The exciting race programme kicked off in the morning with a number of junior races, which proved to be both fun and competitive; supporters were treated to some impressive performances by members of Larne Athletic Club Junior Academy in the Primary School, Under 13, 15 and 17 races. The junior selection had a great turn out with a bus load from Larne of junior runners and parents at the event.

 

In the afternoon the relay races began with the female master’s event (Over 35). In the race the Larne AC ‘A’ team came 20th with a overall time of 43:29 first leg was Roberta Barham with a time of 14:43, second leg with a time of 14:22 was Emma McKeen the fastest Larne AC Female of the day. Final leg was Beverley Gaston with a time of 14:25 another very fast time.
Larne AC ‘B’ team came 26th time of 45:58, first leg was Julie Allen with a time of 15:15, second leg with a time of 16:14 was Janine Rainey and final leg was Lorraine Wharry with a time of 14:30
The next race up was the male masters, Larne AC had three teams in this race. 1st team to finish was the Larne AC ‘A’ team in 9th position with overall time of 45:45. First runner was David Noble with a time of 11:18, second team member was John Neill with a time of 11:30, Third leg runner was Martan Keane with a time of 11:41 and the final leg was run by Wayne Morrow with a time of 11:17.
Larne AC ‘B’ team came in 22nd position with overall time of 48:43. First runner was Brian Heron with a time of 12:06, second team member was Andy Gregg with a time of 11:55, Third leg runner was Malcom Robinson with a time of 12:07 and the final leg was run by Sean McAllister with a time of 12:36.
Larne AC ‘C’ team came in 35th position with overall time of 53:10. First runner was Billy Thompson with a time of 12:34, second team member was Paul Tilson with a time of 13:29, Third leg runner was Alan Lockington with a time of 13:33 and the final leg was run by John Magill with a time of 13:35

 

Larne AC ‘D’ team came in 55th position with overall time of 1:01:23. First runner was David Mitchell with a time of 17:47, second team member was Roger Barham with a time of 16:06, Third leg runner was Mark Todd with a time of 13:33 and the final leg was run by Dom Dorris with a time of 13:59

After the master races the senior races started, these races were open to all ages. Larne AC had team enter in the female and male race. First up was the female races with the Larne ladies team coming 17th overall with a time of 47:22. First female runner was Erin Beattie with a time of 14:52, second runner was Kerrianne Craig with a time of 15:27 and finial runner was Louisa Garrett with a time of 17:04.
The last race of the day was the senior male race with Larne AC coming 28th with a time of 50:08. First out was Thomas Morrow with a time of 12:11, follow by Steven Gilliland with a time of 13:41, The Third leg was Thomas Craig with a time of 12:44, final leg was completed by Jordan Heron running this second race of the after a 10 finish in the U17 race with a time of 11:03 fastest Larne AC runner of the day. Jordan final leg time was 11:34
