NI & Ulster Masters Cross Country Championships 2018

The Athletics NI hosted event took place at the impressive Billy Neill Centre of Excellence for Soccer in Dundonald.  The course, which comprised of 2k laps proved tough, with heavy conditions accompanying a surface which became increasingly slippy as the race programme progressed – this took nothing away from an excellent day of racing. Larne AC had three teams enter in the event. 1 Ladies Master team and 2 Males master teams.

1st race was the female Master two laps of the course so a 4K race with a very strong performance from Larne AC 4 female running. 1st home was Beverley Gaston in 53rd position with a time of 20:21, finish at the same time was Emma McKeen in 54th position. Roberta Barham was just behind with a fantastic time of 20:34. No too far behind with a very strong run was Bernie Regan in 65th with a time of 21:33. This give the Larne AC ladies team 228 points and 11th position in the event.

The next was the male masters race four laps of the course so 8K race with Larne AC having two teams, First home for the club with a brilliant time was Wayne Morrow in 30:32 in 24th position, Next was David Noble in 44th with a time of 31:56, close behind David was Martan Keane in 48th position with a time of 32:24. Completing the Larne AC 1st team was William Thompson with a very strong run in 63rd position with a time of 33:58. This give Larne AC first team 179 points and in 9th position out of 22 team.

The next running was Andy Gregg in 69th position with a time of 34:40, follow in by Sean McAllister in 76 positions with a time of 35:29, very closely follow my Nigel Kane in 85th positions 35:59, just behind Nigel was John Agnew in 86th with a time 36:07. Completing the Larne AC runners was John Magill with a very strong run came in on 38:47 in position 109th.

Well done to all the Larne AC runners in representing the club on Saturday.
