Born 2 Run’s Glenarm Castle Challenge
On Saturday 14th April 2018, over 800 competitors descend on Glenarm Castle, for the inaugural running of Born 2 Run’s Glenarm Castle Challenge. Larne AC had 31 runners talking part in the events and also had members marshaling in event.
The event offered runners a range of distances with a Half Marathon, a 10k and a 5k option. First up was Half Marathon race starting at 10am with 250+ runners Larne AC had 11 runners in this event. 1st in for Larne AC was David Noble with a time of 1:25:34 and 2nd overall. Marten Keane was next in with a fantastic time of 01:30:53 and 5th overall follow by Marten and just 2 weeks after running 100+ miles from Belfast to Dublin was Phelim McAllister in a brilliant time of 1:31:06 in 6th placed. Thomas Tosh Craig was the next Larne finisher in 24th and time of 01:39:33.

Next up was the 10k race, Larne had 12 runners in this event joining 350+ runners. First home was Beverley Gaston with a great time of 49:22, 34th overall and 2nd in F35 age category, next home was Juile Allen 50:36 with a great result of 1st in the F45 age category, follow in my Roberta Barham coming 2nd in the F45 age category with a time of 50:48. 1st Male home for Larne AC was Charlie Meban with a time of 50:50. Sinead Marie McAllister was next with a strong run and time of 54:03. Maureen Mccollum breaking the 55 minutes with a time of 54:37. Elaine Hall was next with a time of 01:03:03, follow closely with Melissa Shields with a time of 01:03:11. The Larne ladies finishing the 10K was completed by Margaret Ferguson with a time of 01:23:05.

Final event was the 5K race First in was Will Barham with a fantastic time of 20:14 in 4th place, closely follow by Josh Montgomery with another brilliant time of 20:25 in 5th place. Next was Patricia Blair getting ready for London Marathon but still getting a 2nd female place with a time of 20:36 and 7th overall. Result of the day goes to Katie Allen with a time of 24:21 and an amazing result of 3rd Female.
