Larne AC at the Caterpillar Larne Half Marathon
Larne AC had a total of Forty-six members running the full distance and joining another record breaking field of close to 2,100 athletes for the clubs flagship event in the racing calendar. With most of the Larne AC membership and family involved in marshalling, water stations and supporting this very successfully event.
In a prefect spring morning and fantastic running conditions all the runners starting at Larne leisure center the 13.1 mile journey which would take them along the famous County Antrim coastline, between Larne and Ballygally, they first had to negotiate two miles around the Town Centre. The middle section of the course was a hilly inland section in Cairncastle, before returning to the Coast Road.
The first home for Larne AC was Wayne Morrow with a brilliant time of 1:17:43 in 28th position, Next in with a very strong run was Phelim McAllister with a time of 1:22:03 in 54th position. David Noble crossed the line in 01:22:15 in 56th position. Martin Keane was next with a fantastic time of 01:26:49 in 144th Position. Andy Gregg was next in for the club with a time of 01:28:56 in 168th, Follow my Gerry Campbell with a time of 01:29:06 in 172th just breaking the 1:30.
1st female for the club was Charlotte English with a great time of 01:47:51 Well done to all the runners, all the club members and family member involved in the event.
