  8. Omagh Half Marathon

On Saturday 29th March 9 Larne AC runners made the long journey across the Province to take part in the 25th running of the Omagh Half Marathon. The event which is the 3rd in the Pure Running Half Marathon Series attracted almost 2000 competitors with large numbers also taking part in the associated 5k Fun Run. Considered by many to be a PB course the race is not without its hilly sections as it weaves in and out of the Tyrone Town and the surrounding coutryside.

Of the Larne contingent Sammy Drummond and Wayne Morrow were quickest out of the traps and were the first club members though the half way mark. Bernard Brady, Billy Thompson and Thomas Craig started more conservatively but were also well up the field at half way hotly pursued by Paul Tilson who like Thomas was racing his 2nd Half Marathon in a week. Dominic Watt was next followed by Dan Magill, Jayne Liddle and Rhonda Brady (another running the distance for 2nd time this week) who worked the early stages of the race together.
